The Asylum presents… The Haunting of Whaley House. So, this is about ‘America’s Most Haunted House’ or as one of the cast informs us, “This house is haunted as fuck!”

A tour guide agrees to let her friends spend some time in Whaley house for a bit of fun. They are soon joined by a cousin of one of the friends who brings a famous psychic and some ghost hunting equipment along. They begin their tour.

From the outset there’s plenty of ghostly activity and some nice gore too. They even get the look of the house right, inside and out. The cast are a likeable bunch and the tone of the film is fairly 80s, in a good way.

It’s pretty tongue in cheek at first but that just makes it a lot of fun to watch while the film’s getting going and the humour gives way to a more dramatic approach when things hot up with a lot of skill for a low budget film (again that sort of 80s vibe coming through). There are some good scares, the ghosts are creepy as fuck, and it’s a real positive that the film makers are going all out with delivering the goods at a constant rate rather than saving it all up for a scary ending.

I totally recommend this film. Low budget films these days rarely get it this right and a few high budget ones don’t either. Fans of old school horror will love it I imagine, I know I did. Most horror fans have probably heard negative things said about Asylum films, well I have nothing but positive things to say about The Haunting of Whaley House. I love it.

Even ends on the right note. Great film.
