Mrs. Slater owns a sorority house and want the girls staying there, getting ready for an upcoming party, out. When she catches one of the girls, Vicki, having sex with her boyfriend she slashes the waterbed with her cane. Vicki wants to get even with Mrs. Slater and talks the other girls into helping her play a sorority prank on her. Vicki orders Mrs. Slater at gunpoint to retrieve her cane from a swimming pool where it has been placed on a tyre, the prank goes wrong when Vicki accidentally shoots Mrs. Slater. The girls decide to hide the body in the pool. Anyway, the party goes ahead and there’s a killer about. I don’t want to say too much.
This is a classic 80s slasher so if that’s your sort of thing, it’s definitely mine, then you will probably enjoy it as much as I did. There’s a remake, Sorority Row (2009), which I think is a great film too but personally I prefer this, I love 70s/80s horror films so it’s a no-brainer. Once again I’m not sure if the film is cut or not, I was lucky to get a copy on DVD at all in the UK, there are many I can’t, so if it is cut, too bad I suppose. It isn’t easy to tell whether some films are cut or not, there are some pretty good effects but whether there should be more to certain scenes, I just don’t know. I’m happy with the film overall and the kills and so on seem ‘all there’ so it was worth getting either way. The killer’s creepy as fuck and there’s enough tension to keep it afloat, Kate McNeil does very well as Katherine.
So, check it out, especially if you’re an 80s nut like me. I enjoy discovering new ‘old films’ and this was a pleasant surprise and one more film I’m going to rewatch to death.
