OK, well anyone who likes paranormal reality shows might like this one as it follows the formulae of such shows very closely. Paranormal Inspectors is the made-up show and the film starts with what happened in episode 49 as the team debunks a suspected haunting.
For their 50th episode the Paranormal Inspectors team investigates the infamous West Virginia State Lunatic Asylum at the request of a wealthy man dying of pancreatic cancer who wants to know if there’s a hell, as he believes he’s going there if there is, and thinks if these guys can debunk the asylum then there isn’t. (Yeah, that one kind of smelled a bit like arse to me too.)
Investigating the asylum at the same time are members of the Academia Spirit Searchers Club who basically want to prove that there is a demonic spirit in the asylum.
We are told the Paranormal Investigators series was cancelled before episode 50 was aired and that this film shows for the first time what happened. (Maybe they just cancelled it because it was so fucking lame!)
Well, this film’s about as subtle as a brick and about as scary as that brick wearing a Halloween costume.
A NICE NEAT LITTLE LINE OF DEAD BEES. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!? ONE OF THE BEES MOVED! WTF!?
There’s a lot of bad dialogue in the film, delivered badly (and speedily) by pretty bad actors so you’re not in any way drawn into the plot. There are some OK special effects and shots but they’re totally wasted as there’s no decent structure to the film; a quick (and I mean quick) scary (and I mean not scary at all) scene and it’s back to the boring high-speed dialogue again. Till you just want to switch it off!
If you want to watch a film that uses the style of a paranormal reality show then watch Grave Encounters 1 and 2 or hey, a paranormal reality show. But this? This is pooh.
